Shot some surplus in the Frankenfolder
Bought some surplus ammo from Classic arms, that Yugo stuff, I thought it was cheaper than just regular wolf, it's not. Anyways, I don't know if it was because the gun's action was "new", but out of 200 rounds I had four stovepipes, and 2 lengthwise stuck cases. And about 3 crumpled necks.
Never had those kind of problems with wolf, maybe it's because the brass is softer. Anyways, when I got home, lol there was a bit of rust on the hammer stop pin rivets. Now I wanna say that it may have been there before, because I never really saw it in the bright sun, but yeah the ammo is corrosive. So I did the whole ammonia/hot soapy water thing. The front of the gas piston tube has got some rust too heh. Hard to believe it set up after only 2 hours before cleaning. But I guess it's possible. I don't think I'd buy corrosive ammo again, unless I found it at least 10~15 % cheaper than wolf, and I certainly wouldn't use it in a NICE AK. But since it was a CAI gun I thought what the heck. That being said, every round did go bang, no duds. Live and learn. |

This can be a couple of things, but it could just be a bad spring, or the ammo just didn't have enough powder. |

The ammonia is unnecessary. It's the water in the ammonia solution that washes the potassium salts (the corrosive element) out.

Yeah that's what I've heard. It's like when you keep cleaning with a brass cleaning rod. You go, gosh there's a lot of copper fouling in there. And keep cleaning with a copper solvent and pulling out green patches. Then you realize you're using a brass cleaning rod.
